Locum Tenens Opportunity near MAPLETON, OR Dates Needed: 1 week a month ongoing for the first quarter of 2024 with the potential to extend. Details: Required procedures: Endoscopies, GI bleeds, bread and butter GS cases Rural hospital, must be comfortable handling everything Trauma level 3 EMR: Epic Additional Details: Will the provider be required to do upper and lower scopes? YES. If so, will they be emergent, diagnostic, or therapeutic? Emergent. What kind of patient volume will the provider see while on call? Consults often with ED frequently. Maybe two surgical cases. What are the common trauma cases? MVA, stab wounds, etc? Yes to all of these. We are the only trauma center. The nearest is over an hour away. We air lift if needed. Any other PEDS procedures besides peds appendectomies? Yes for peds. Emergent only for 6 years old. Younger are transferred if needed. Will there be GI coverage for GI bleeds while the locums surgeon is on call? No GI coverage Can you confirm if it is in House call or pager only? We are currently looking for a dedicated and experienced Trauma Surgeon to cover specific weeks, one week a month throughout the first quarter of 2024, with the potential for extension. Assignment Details: The locum surgeon will be responsible for a variety of procedures, including endoscopies, GI bleeds, and bread and butter GS cases in a rural hospital setting. This trauma level 3 facility requires the surgeon to be comfortable handling a diverse range of cases, including emergent upper and lower scopes. The hospital serves as the only trauma center in the area, dealing with common trauma cases such as motor vehicle accidents and stab wounds. Pediatric procedures, particularly emergent ones for 6-year-olds, are part of the responsibilities, with younger cases being transferred if needed. The surgeon will handle GI bleeds without additional GI coverage, and the call will involve cell phone contact and trauma alert. Submission Requirements: Board certification in Trauma Surgery is a requirement. An active Oregon (OR) license is necessary for this position. Clean background with no pending malpractice cases is highly preferred, and a self-query of the National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB) is required. Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification is also a requirement. Site Requirements: The site mandates 4 hours of unpaid EPIC training, with the option to test out in 2 hours. Overtime is applicable after 40 hours, and the workweek is scheduled from Sunday to Saturday.
