American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring night shifts and competency in acute and swingbed care.
Responsibilities- Work in an acute care setting on a combined Med/Tele/Swingbed unit
- 19-bed unit with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3-6
- Patient population includes acute and swingbed cases such as pneumonia, rehab, COPD, CHF, pancreatitis, and GI bleed
- Uses telemetry monitoring equipment (Mindray) and requires reading own strips
- Must be able to set up and manage BiPAP, CPAP, and High Flow Nasal Cannula devices
- Charting is done using MEDITECH EMR
- Night shift schedule with every other weekend and holiday required
- Float required to Med/Tele Acute, Observation, and Swingbed units
- Team scheduling is used and self-scheduling may be possible
- No call or standby is required
- RNs on this unit may participate in the code team
- Unit has strong teamwork and a positive, supportive culture
- Attributes for success include dependability, compassion, knowledge, and flexibility
- One CNA per shift provides personal care, vitals, and weights support
- Unit or department orientation typically consists of 3-4 twelve hour shifts
- Scrubs of any color are permitted; nurses must supply their own
- First to float if needed
- Every other holiday coverage required
- Requested time off (RTO) totaling 7 days or fewer per contract must be submitted up front; no additional RTO will be approved after assignment begins
- First time travelers are welcome to apply
- Active ND or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; pending certifications not accepted
- Minimum of 1 year RN experience in medical or telemetry settings
- Competency with IV starts, telemetry monitoring, NG, and foley catheter insertion required
- Must be competent in setting up and managing respiratory therapy equipment such as BiPAP, CPAP, and HFNC
- Must be able to read telemetry strips independently
- MEDITECH EMR experience preferred
- Must provide a copy of driver’s license for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from last 3 years
- May not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit facility (including CHI and Dignity) in the past year
- Permanent residence must be at least 50 miles from the facility
