Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Internal Medicine physicians to serve as clinic preceptors in our new Primary Care Internal Medicine Residency Program in Lebanon, TN.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a community-based residency program supported by Vanderbilt s robust academic resources. Physicians will help train the next generation of outstanding primary care internists dedicated to delivering compassionate, comprehensive care in both rural and urban-adjacent settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Dedicated Teaching Time: Provide high-quality, patient-centered teaching and supervision of residents in the ambulatory setting; participate in evaluation and feedback, case-based teaching, and academic programming. Protected time to participate in residency program activities, including curriculum development, teaching, mentorship, and program leadership activities.
- Clinical Responsibilities: Maintain an outpatient clinical practice in the community and serve as a preceptor in the resident continuity clinic in Lebanon, TN.
- Program Development: Collaborate with the Program Director and Associate Program Directors to support continuous program growth, innovation, and academic excellence. Participate in recruitment and onboarding of residents.
Qualifications
- BC/BE in Internal Medicine
- Strong interest in medical education and ambulatory primary care. Prior teaching experience (residents, medical students, or fellows) is highly desirable but not required.
- Commitment to excellence in patient care and education.
- Collaborative spirit and passion for innovation in training future internists in a community-based academic environment.
