American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring at least 18 months of recent experience and a NC or compact RN license.
Responsibilities- Work in a 10-bed Med/Surg Tele unit in a hospital setting
- Average daily patient census is eight with an RN to patient ratio of 1:5
- Provide care for patients with common diagnoses such as chest pain, syncope, and angina
- Night shift position with 12-hour shifts from 1900-0700
- Every other weekend rotation is required
- Travelers must work 75% of holidays during the contract
- Floating within the regional group of facilities may be required
- EMR used is Epic and IV pumps are Alaris with Omnicell medication dispensing
- Responsibilities include general Med/Surg Tele nursing care and management of complex equipment
- Support available from supervisors, charge and resource RNs, IV/VAT team, and hospitalist/phlebotomy shared services
- Orientation includes facility and two days of departmental onboarding
- Scrub color is navy
- RTO can be approved for up to six days excluding holidays, with time to be made up as needed
- Applicants must have a permanent address located at least 50 miles from the home unit
- First-time travelers may be considered but are not preferred

- Minimum of 18 months recent Med/Surg Tele RN experience
- Certifications required: BLS and ACLS; NIHSS required for Resource Team
- Competency in cardiac rhythm interpretation, stroke care, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, and specialized drain/tube management
- Experience with medication gtt management, including cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, and IV fluids
