Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a Level III trauma center, requiring a MA RN license and competency in telemetry and rotating shifts.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 20-bed Medical/Surgical ICU within a Level III trauma center
• Care for adult patients with diagnoses including substance abuse, psychiatric conditions, DKA, sepsis, GI bleed, respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, renal failure, and cardiogenic shock
• Attendings and residents are present in the ICU 24/7
• Float required, primarily to Medical/Surgical units with a patient ratio up to 1:4 or 1:5 when floated
• ICU nurse to patient ratio is typically 1:2 or 1:1 for high acuity cases
• Rotating day shifts required (potential for 7a-7p, 11a-11p, or 7p-7a), including every other weekend
• Uses Epic EMR for charting
• Duties include providing comprehensive critical care nursing in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team
• Medical and surgical patient populations with broad acuity
• Floating to Med/Surg units is required as needed
• May be required to wear specified scrubs based on unit guidelines
• Public transportation and public parking options available; daily parking fees may apply
• Local candidates must reside at least 60 miles from Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston to qualify for standard traveler rates

Requirements

• Active Massachusetts RN license required with no pending or conditional status accepted
• Minimum 3 years of general ICU experience with at least 2 years of continuous MICU experience in one location
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA required)
• Telemetry proficiency including the ability to read tele strips
• Proof of MA licensure required prior to consideration
• Flu vaccine required with no exemptions allowed
