American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery/Postpartum role requiring NC or compact state licensure and two years of recent LDRP experience.
Responsibilities- Work in a hospital-based Labor & Delivery/Postpartum (LDRP) unit with 10 LDRP beds, 2 OBs, and 2 triage rooms
- Average census of 7 patients per day with patient ratios following AWHONN guidelines: 1:2 inactive labor, 1:1 active labor, and 1:3-4 couplets
- Patient population includes labor, triage, postpartum, and newborn cases
- 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required for 75% of major holidays
- Required to float between multiple facilities within Region 3 as needed, within scope of practice
- No on-call or call-back responsibilities
- Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Phillips monitors, and HUGGS infant security system
- Responsibilities include managing laboring patients, circulating in cesarean sections, performing pre-op/post-op care, triaging obstetric patients, resuscitating newborns, and managing postpartum care
- Support includes scrub techs, charge nurse, physicians, anesthesia/CRNA team, and RT support
- Department provides a positive, family-oriented unit culture
- Two-day departmental orientation provided in addition to general orientation
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- Free parking is available for staff
- First-time travelers will be considered for the position
- Maximum of 6 days RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; additional days off require extension of contract
- Active NC or compact RN license
- Minimum 2 years of recent LDRP or Labor & Delivery experience
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and EFM
- Demonstrated skills in labor management, cesarean section circulation, pre-op, PACU, triage, newborn resuscitation, Pitocin and epidural management
- Ability and willingness to work in an LDRP setting
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the assigned facility
