The Oncology Nurse Practitioner provides specialized outpatient and occasional inpatient care within a collaborative oncology team at a regional trauma center. Responsibilities include administering chemotherapy and radiation therapy, coordinating with healthcare professionals, and delivering evidence-based oncology care. The role requires certification, state licensure, strong communication, and critical-thinking skills in a supportive coastal community setting.

Located in Coos Bay, the largest hospital on the Southern Coast of Oregon, we serve a catchment area of over 320,000. Job Responsibilities:- Full-time, Day shift with four ten-hour shifts; no nights or weekends.
- Shared paid call equally among clinicians.
- Primarily outpatient care with occasional inpatient consultations.
- Work at the Bay Area Hospital Cancer Center, offering advanced services like chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and medical oncology.
- Collaborate with a high-caliber nursing infusion team and other healthcare professionals.
- Function as a member of the clinical patient care team, performing tasks and procedures as an advanced practice provider.
- Maintain excellent communication with referring physicians and provide compassionate, evidence-based care.
- Board Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) - REQUIRED.
- AONCP certification (or in process) for NP candidates - REQUIRED.
- Oregon license or willingness to obtain - REQUIRED.
- Pediatric Oncology Subspecialty or additional oncology training for PA candidates - HIGHLY PREFERRED.
- Experience in an inpatient or outpatient oncology setting - HIGHLY PREFERRED.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and maintain confidentiality.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities under stress while displaying excellent organizational skills.
- Oregon State License (or willing to obtain).
- Board Certification is mandatory.
- Clean malpractice history and background required.
- Copy of the NPDB self-query report needed prior to employment.
