Job SummaryThe Travel Med/Surg RN provides high‑quality nursing care to adult patients with a wide range of medical and postoperative needs. This role requires strong clinical judgment, effective communication, and the ability to manage a diverse patient population in a fast‑paced acute care environment.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver safe, evidence‑based nursing care to Med/Surg patients across varying acuity levels
- Perform comprehensive assessments, develop individualized care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes
- Administer medications, treatments, and interventions according to facility protocols
- Monitor vital signs, recognize changes in patient condition, and escalate concerns appropriately
- Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and support staff to coordinate patient care
- Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatments, and discharge instructions
- Document all care accurately and timely in the electronic health record
- Maintain infection control standards and adhere to hospital policies and regulatory requirements
- Support unit workflow, including admissions, discharges, and transfers
- Demonstrate adaptability and professionalism in a travel assignment setting
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- Minimum of 1–2 years recent Med/Surg experience
- BLS required; ACLS preferred
- Strong clinical assessment and critical‑thinking skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Experience with electronic charting systems (Epic, Cerner, or similar) preferred
- Travel nursing experience beneficial but not required
- Medical/Surgical inpatient unit
- Night shift schedule (7P–7A)
- Fast‑paced acute care environment with mixed patient population
