Job Details:
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required with previous charge experience required
• Must be flexible with weekend requirements and work 50% of weekends during contract
• Patient ratio of 1:3-4 (rarely 1:5 during emergencies)
• Care for patients with CVAs, hydrocephalus, brain tumors and resections, seizures, TBIs, trauma cases, GI surgeries, and large wound cleaning and closures
• Required certifications: ACLS, BCLS, NIHSS
• Must be proficient in neuro experience and management of drips
• Preferred skills include conscious sedation and Level 1 trauma experience
• Floating required to different levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) within hospital or affiliate hospitals
• May be assigned charge nurse responsibilities with training and resources provided
• Must be willing to precept students as this is a teaching facility
• Skills include arterial line management, blood product administration, ventilated patient care, central line management, chest tubes, feeding tube care, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, PICC line management, pre/post neurosurgery care, spinal cord injury care, IV management, surgical drains, cardiac drip titration, and wound care
• Call-in policy requires making up missed shifts during pay period or added to end of contract
• Charting system experience with Cerner preferred
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Flu vaccine required with medical/religious exemptions only
• First time travelers accepted but locals not accepted for this position
