We are seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN) with nursery and couplet care experience for a contract assignment in a rural hospital setting. This role supports a close-knit obstetrics team handling approximately 45–50 deliveries per month and requires strong clinical skills across Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Nursery care.
Key Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive nursing care for Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Nursery patients
- Perform couplet care for mother and newborn
- Monitor labor progress and fetal well-being using intermediate or advanced fetal monitoring
- Assist with vaginal and cesarean deliveries
- Provide patient education and emotional support to mothers and families
- Serve as Charge Nurse when assigned
- Float to assist other departments as needed (not as a primary nurse)
- Accurately document patient care using the electronic medical record
- Approximately 45–50 deliveries per month
- Rural community hospital environment requiring adaptability and teamwork
- Minimum 4 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience
- Experience in Labor & Delivery, Nursery, Postpartum, and Couplet Care
- Active Hawaii RN license required (must be current at time of submission)
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently in a rural setting
- BLS/BCLS
- ACLS
- NRP
- Additional preferred certifications may include:
- AWHONN / EFM
- STABLE
- CPI
- ENPC
- NIHSS
- NRP-related or maternal–newborn specialty certifications
- EPIC electronic medical record (EMR)
