The role is for a part-time Cardiology Physician (MD/DO) providing locum tenens coverage at a Level II acute care hospital with 250 beds. The physician will manage cardiovascular diseases including coronary artery disease, cardiomyopathies, and arrhythmias primarily during weekend shifts, involving patient rounds, onsite and after-hours call, primarily for inpatient care in a 20-bed unit with ICU/CCU support. Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, ATLS, DEA, and an active Kentucky medical license is preferred due to onboarding timelines.

- We are looking for a provider to start 04/03/2026 through 12/13/2026. with coverage dates noted below for weekend coverage
- Friday 7 am ending Monday 8 am.

- Shifts/ Days/Hours weekly: Friday 7 am to Monday 7 am. Will report onsite each morning to round and check on patients, onsite call during that time, after hours call as well. rarely called back onsite.

Management of risk factors for cardiovascular disease prevention and early diagnosis and intervention for established disease are important to cardiology. Diseases typically seen by a cardiologist include:
- Coronary artery disease
- Ischemic heart disease
- Pericardial disease
- Cardiomyopathies
- Endocarditis
- Dysrhythmias
- Valvular heart disease
- Congenital heart disease in adults
- Disorders of the veins, arteries and pulmonary circulation
Setting of Care:- Inpatient
- Unit Bed Count: 20
- Patients per day in Unit: +/- 5 for average weekend
- Avg Unit Census: 10-15, which includes 20 ICU/CCU beds
- Will Locums be sole provider: yes- for general cardiology, Interv. Card will see those patients.

- Are intensivists on staff 24/7: echo tech 24/7 and IC 24/7 on staff
- Is there support staff, what does that include: Echo EKG
- Anything else we need to know about this unit or need for the incoming provider? Most cases are Afib, RVR, CHD (related to cardiology)

- Will Locums do Admits: Rarely- hospitalist will do these.
