American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery/Postpartum (LDRP) position requiring strong L&D, postpartum, and newborn care skills with the ability to float within a network.
Responsibilities- Work in an acute hospital LDRP unit with 14 LDRP beds, 2 OR suites for C-Sections, and 4 triage beds
- Assigned to night shifts, 7p-7a, with weekends as needed
- Floating required to multiple sites within the system based on L&D, Postpartum, or Antepartum skill set, or as a sitter
- Patient population includes laboring mothers, newborns, and postpartum couplets, typically 32 weeks gestation or greater
- Typical patient ratios follow AWHONN staffing standards: 1:1 for labor, 1:3 for postpartum couplets, 1:3 for triage
- Use of Epic EMR and Centricity EFM system
- Unit commonly manages patients with magnesium protocols, Pitocin infusions, and occasional insulin drips
- No call or standby required
- Assigned responsibilities include stabilization, physical assessment, and newborn care during first hours after delivery
- Work with support from resource RNs, triage nurses, OB hospitalists, and neonatal nurse practitioners, all present 24/7
- Unit is supported by surgical techs (CST) and CNAs, with coverage varying per shift
- Orientation includes four unit-specific shifts covering C-Section, labor, and postpartum care
- Hospital-issued scrubs required and must be changed into on site at the beginning and end of each shift
- No block scheduling or special scheduling requests allowed; schedules are filled based on unit needs
- First time travelers are welcome to apply
- No acrylic or gel nails permitted due to NICU integration within LDRP rooms
- Travel pairs must each have access to a vehicle, as floating to different sites may be required
- Possible need to work holidays based on staffing needs
- Active ID or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum of 3 years L&D experience and 1 year of mother baby experience preferred
- Current ACLS, BLS, NRP, and STABLE certifications required
- Experience attending deliveries, providing newborn care, triage, circulating and recovering C-Sections, and postpartum couplet care
- Proficiency in titrating drips such as magnesium and Pitocin
- Experience in using Epic for documentation
- Must provide two professional references including a supervisor reference from the past 12 months and another from the last 3 years
- Driver's license required for consideration
- Must live outside of a 50-mile radius from the facility
- Permanent staff must be separated for one year before applying for a travel assignment
