Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Stepdown Telemetry position caring for surgical and cath lab patients requiring advanced cardiac monitoring.
Responsibilities
- Work in a hospital stepdown unit with a focus on surgical and cath lab patient populations
- Typical patient ratios are 4:1 on days and 4-5:1 on nights
- Responsibilities include care for patients with chest tubes, epicardial wires, and sheath/radial band management
- Requires experience with cardiac drips such as Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin (NTG), and Cardizem
- Advanced EKG/dysrhythmia testing required for competency assessment
- Night shift position with three 12-hour shifts per week from 19:00 to 07:00
- Weekend and holiday shifts are covered by rotation
- Must be familiar with management of chest tubes, epicardial wires, and vascular access devices such as sheaths and radial bands
- Experience required with cardiac medications administered as intravenous drips
- Night shift assignment with a rotating schedule for weekends and holidays
- A reduced pay rate applies for travelers living within a 75-mile radius of the facility
Requirements
- Active KY or compact RN license required
- Minimum of 2 years recent stepdown or telemetry experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred
- Experience with surgical and cath lab patient care required
- Must pass advanced dysrhythmia (EKG) exam
