American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a night shift role in Illinois requiring an active IL RN license and strong neuro assessment skills.
Responsibilities- Work in an 18-bed ICU with a mix of ICU and step-down level patients
- Patient ratios are 2:1 for ICU and 3:1 for step-down
- Night shift schedule with 12-hour shifts
- Required to work every other weekend and every other holiday
- Float to step-down level care may be required
- No on-call or call-back requirements
- Charge nurse may take patients
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Skills in tPa administration and massive transfusion protocols are preferred
- Successful candidates demonstrate resilience, adaptability, and strong social skills
- Unit has a strong core staff and seeks traveler support due to increased patient volume
- COVID-19 vaccination is not required for this position but may be subject to change
- GSA hours are not guaranteed during orientation week
- Candidates must live at least 40 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Active IL RN license required
- Current AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience; 3 years preferred
- At least 1 prior travel nursing assignment required
- Proficient in NIHSS, dysphagia screening, and strong neuro assessment
- Experience with telemetry/EKG interpretation, ventilator management, and titration of sedatives, paralytics, cardiac drips, vasoactive agents, and insulin
- Must pass an EKG exam on the first day
- Familiarity with sepsis protocols and post-ROSC therapeutic hypothermia
