Cat Scan Technologist
Job DescriptionThe Cat Scan Technologist performs computer tomography procedures and related techniques, producing sectional and three-dimensional images for interpretation and assisting with interventional and therapeutic procedures.
Responsibilities- Performs complex CT procedures.
- Reviews and obtains patient clinical history, ensuring documentation into PACS.
- Prepares and reviews contrast questionnaires with patients or their family members.
- Identifies and administers contrast media as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Communicates with Radiologists and Referring Physicians for prescription clarifications.
- Verifies insurance authorized exam scripts and submits necessary forms.
- Obtains outside studies and ensures their availability in PACS for Radiologists.
- Evaluates radiographs for accuracy and diagnostic value using PACS System.
- Prepares protocols for scanning based on the patient's needs.
- Preps patients for scanning, including necessary shielding and immobilization.
- Monitors patients for adverse reactions during procedures.
- Adheres to policies regarding attendance, punctuality, and behavior.
This position requires evening shifts from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, five days a week, with every third weekend and holidays as needed.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology and radiological positioning.
- Understanding mechanical attributes of CT software and hardware.
- Thorough knowledge of PACS system.
- ARRT (CT) certification must be achieved within twelve months of hire.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within three months of hire.
- NJ DEP Diagnostic Radiography License is required.
