Job Description
The Anesthesia Technician will support the Anesthesiology and Surgery Department by assisting anesthesiologists and CRNAs in maintaining anesthesia equipment and ensuring safe, efficient operating room operations. This role supports a high-acuity acute care environment, including trauma and pediatric cases, across multiple surgical suites.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Clean, set up, and perform safety checks on anesthesia machines
- Set up anesthesia circuits and equipment prior to procedures
- Assist CRNAs and anesthesiologists (no IV starts)
- Prepare setups for arterial lines
- Inventory and restock anesthesia machines, Omnicells, and supply cabinets
- Transport and move anesthesia equipment and supplies as needed
- Maintain cleanliness and readiness of anesthesia workstations
- Respond to emergency codes including:
- OB Stat
- Anesthesia Stat
- Trauma
- Stroke Alerts
- Support multiple procedural areas including:
- Main OR, CVOR, Cath Lab, L&D, Endo, EP Lab, MRI, CT, X-ray, and Nuclear Medicine
- Multitask in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Education & Certification Requirements
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- BLS Certification
- One of the following certifications via ASATT:
- Certified Anesthesia Technician (Cer.A.T.)
- Certified Anesthesia Technologist (Cer.A.T.T.)
Preferred:
- Pediatric experience
- Experience with GE anesthesia machines and Mindray equipment
- 1+ year of anesthesia technician experience (first-time travelers accepted)
