Opportunity Overview Specialty: Cardiac Anesthesiology Facility Type: 309-bed, Level III Trauma Hospital Location: Chesapeake, Virginia Start Date: January 23, 2026, onward Length of Assignment: Ongoing FTEs Needed: 2 Compensation & Benefits Pay Rate: $425-$450 per hour Bill Rate: $560-$580 per hour Hourly Medical Malpractice Rate: $25/hour Travel & Lodging: Provided Schedule & Work-Life Balance Shift Structure: 7:00 a.m. 3:00 p.m. Low patient volume, with a focus on quality outcomes Call Required: Cardiac cases only Low callback volume (new cardiac program) 30-minute response time Schedule offers shorter days and improved predictability, ideal for providers seeking a better long-term schedule Clinical Details Program Status: New cardiac program launched in April 2024 Case Types: Primarily straightforward CABGs ORs: 2 dedicated cardiac ORs Practice Model: Independent anesthesiologists perform their own cases Blocks: Peripheral, regional, spinal, and epidural as needed Charting: Epic Support Staff: Available Requirements Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anesthesiology Cardiac Fellowship Required TEE Certification Required ACLS, ATLS, BLS, PALS An active Virginia medical license is strongly preferred due to urgent need Credentialing is typically 90 days, with expedited 30-day onboarding available Why This Opportunity This Virginia locum assignment offers high hourly pay, low case volume, shorter shifts, and limited call, making it an ideal option for cardiac anesthesiologists looking to maximize compensation while maintaining a healthier worklife balance.
