PLEASE NOTE: Floating Requirements: RNs will float to Med-Surg ~80% of the time to take a full patient assignment if there are no laboring patients in the department. This is CA facility is in a rural area and they don't have many births. Department: Labor & Delivery Beds: Labor & Delivery: 3 | Postpartum: 3 | C-Section OR: Located on the first floor (not in-unit) Birth Stats: Approx. 30 births per year Floating Requirements: RNs will float to Med-Surg ~80% of the time to take a full patient assignment if there are no laboring patients in the department. Clinical Practice Highlights: Couplet Care: RNs manage both mother and baby (labor, delivery, and postpartum in the same room). Common Diagnoses: Active labor, elective inductions, low-risk pregnancies (37 weeks+). Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, NRP Drips Used: Pitocin, Magnesium (only for send-outs) Titration Protocol: RNs titrate drips according to policy
