American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department night shift role at a Level I trauma center, requiring strong ED experience and VA or compact RN license.
Responsibilities- Work in a high-volume Emergency Department with 73 rooms and 24 hallway spaces
- Level I trauma center setting though this position will not take trauma cases directly
- Patient census averages 350 per day
- Must be willing to float to affiliated offsite EDs in Fairfax City (10 beds, 40 patients/day) and Reston/Herndon area (7 beds, 25 patients/day)
- 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- On-call coverage required 1-2 shifts per schedule
- Requires coverage for one major and one minor holiday during assignment
- Uses EPIC EMR system
- Duties include caring for a wide range of emergency patients including stroke and STEMI cases
- Emergency Department does not hold psychiatric patients but medically clears and admits as needed
- Security personnel are present and sitters are used for suicidal patients
- There is no dedicated fast track area; non-acute patients are seen in a separate section of the ED
- Active VA or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years recent experience in Emergency Department nursing
- Prior Level I or Level II trauma center experience is mandatory
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, and CPI
- EPIC EMR experience highly preferred
- Previous travel nurse experience highly preferred
