American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit float pool position requiring a current KS or compact license, BLS, and NIHSS certification.
Responsibilities- Work in a float pool across Med/Surg Intermediate and PCU departments at multiple metro campuses
- Patient ratio is typically 1:5
- Care involves MS/Tele, Cardiac Telemetry, and Neuro Stepdown patient populations
- Night shifts consisting of 3x12 hours from 18:45 to 07:15
- Required to work at least 8 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule, including a combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
- No on-call requirements
- Will use specialized equipment including 12 lead EKG, AirVo, Voalte, and Omnicell
- May be assigned charge RN duties or required to work holiday shifts based on unit needs
- Will receive assignments as needed and not have a dedicated home unit
- Expected to float among roughly five different units and between campuses as needs dictate
- Opportunities for first-time travelers are available
- Maximum of 7 days of requested time off (RTO) permitted
- No travel partners are accepted for this position
- Completion of initial and annual modules (5-8 hours on average) required before starting
- Negative drug screen required prior to assignment; diluted or positive results will result in cancellation with a 6-month waiting period before reapplication
- Active KS or compact RN license, with both Kansas and Missouri licensure or compact required due to floating expectations
- BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required; ACLS certification preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of recent specialty experience with at least 1 year in specialty within the past 12 months and no employment gap greater than 90 days
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, pre/post cardiac cath, as well as patient care for sepsis, wound care, renal failure, stroke, AFIB, GI bleeding, ETOH, SI, and COVID
- Two professional references required, including one supervisor or above from the past year
- Must live more than 75 miles from the facility; local candidates within radius are not accepted
- Pending licenses will not be considered
