American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN with Level 1 trauma experience and proficiency in general and specialty surgical procedures.
Responsibilities- Work in a large acute care hospital setting on the General Operating Room unit
- Unit features 25 OR suites and handles 75 to 100 surgery cases per day
- Level 1 trauma environment
- Patient ratio is 1:1 in the OR
- Procedures include general surgery, GYN, urology, laparoscopic, robotics (Da Vinci preferred), and some neuro/ortho
- Uses EPIC for charting, with required EMR experience
- 8 hour day shifts with rotating call, expected to stay late as needed
- Rotates to PM shifts as needed and call is 1–2 days per week plus every 3–4 weekends
- May float to other hospital campuses if needed, though this is rare
- Responsible for circulating duties including sterile prep, catheter insertion, operating room equipment setup, and accurate documentation in the EMR
- Clinicians must badge in and out at the facility
- Ceil blue scrubs are provided by the hospital
- Candidates must not reside within a 60-mile radius of the facility; those within 60 to 80 miles will be subject to a local pay rate
- Previous employees must have an end date at least 6 months prior to consideration
- Occasional floating to other campuses may be required
- Orientation includes 8 hours of onboarding
- Strong teamwork is essential given the high case volume and trauma environment
- Active ND or compact RN license is required
- Current BLS certification
- Minimum 2 years recent OR RN experience in a large hospital (250+ beds, Level 1 trauma)
- Experience in facilities with 15 or more OR suites
- Experience with robotics, preferably Da Vinci, strongly preferred
- Proficiency with general, ENT, GYN, urology, and laparoscopic procedures
- Familiarity with surgical navigation, as well as neuro and ortho cases
