Position Summary
The Controller is a key financial leader responsible for overseeing the accounting operations of Ryders Health and its skilled nursing portfolio. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, regulatory compliance, and effective financial management across all 8 facilities. The Controller plays a critical role in supporting strategic decisions, maintaining fiscal health, and driving operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, cash management, and financial statement preparation.
- Produce timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for corporate leadership and ownership.
- Monitor financial performance of each facility (8 SNFs), analyzing trends, identifying variances, and recommending corrective action.
- Maintain the chart of accounts and ensure consistent accounting treatment across all facilities.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead annual operating and capital budget processes for all 8 facilities.
- Develop financial forecasts, cash flow projections, and pro forma analyses.
- Work closely with facility administrators and department heads to ensure budget adherence and financial accountability.
Regulatory Compliance & Audit
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, state and federal regulations, Medicare and Medicaid cost reporting requirements, and healthcare-specific financial standards.
- Coordinate annual audits, cost reports, and survey-related financial documentation.
- Oversee compliance with internal controls and corporate policies.
Operational Support & Leadership
- Partner with facility leadership to strengthen financial oversight, optimize revenue cycle operations, and enhance reimbursement.
- Support AP/AR teams, payroll administration, and billing coordination to ensure accuracy and process efficiency.
- Lead, mentor, and evaluate accounting staff; foster a culture of accuracy, integrity, and continuous improvement.
Strategic & Corporate Functions
- Provide financial insight for acquisitions, development projects, and strategic initiatives.
- Support implementation of financial systems, technology upgrades, and process improvements.
- Prepare financial reports for ownership, lenders, and outside stakeholders as needed.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or MBA preferred.
- Minimum 5-7 years accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a senior or supervisory role.
- Skilled Nursing Facility or healthcare industry experience strongly preferred.
- Experience managing multi-site financial operations is a plus.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP and healthcare financial regulations.
- Expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, and audit coordination.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Point Click Care, QuickBooks, Great Plains, Sage, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across operational and clinical teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
