This position is for a Medical Oncologist in South Carolina offering a locum-to-permanent opportunity at a specialized cancer center with no locum call during the initial phase and a manageable on-call schedule once permanent. The role involves managing both benign hematology and malignant oncology cases, overseeing bone marrow transplants, participating in tumor boards, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. Candidates must have board certification in Hematology & Oncology, active licensure, and relevant certifications, providing care primarily to adult and geriatric patients in an outpatient and inpatient setting.
Oncology Opportunity in South Carolina with No Locum Call We are seeking a dedicated Medical Oncologist for a locum-to-permanent transition at a state-of-the-art, free-standing cancer center near Greenwood, South Carolina. This role is ideal for a provider looking to integrate into a stable, high-functioning team while serving a diverse adult and geriatric patient population. Schedule & Work-Life Balance Standard Hours: Monday Friday 8:30 AM 4:30 PM. Locum Phase: No on-call requirement. Permanent Phase: If transitioned, call is light at 1 week every 6 8 weeks. Credentialing: 60-day timeframe with Emergency/Temporary Privileges available for an expedited start. Clinical Practice Details Patient Mix: 65% Benign Hematology 35% Malignant Oncology. Daily Volume: Average of 25 outpatient encounters. Inpatient Responsibilities: Average of 20 patients per day during rounding/call. Supportive Team: Collaborative environment with 7 Physicians and 6 Advanced Practice Providers. Key Responsibilities Specialized Care: Manage bone marrow transplants and oversee blood bank activities. Collaboration: Lead/participate in Tumor Board discussions and work closely with specialized oncology nurses for chemotherapy administration. Clinical Management: Order/interpret diagnostic imaging and manage comprehensive treatment plans via EPIC EMR. Candidate Requirements Board Certification: Hematology & Oncology (Required). Licensure: Active South Carolina medical license (Candidates needing to obtain a license are encouraged to apply). Certifications: Current BLS and DEA.
