Job DescriptionThe Registered Nurse will assess and respond to the individual physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of patients. The role involves patient advocacy, implementing nursing care, and ensuring coordinated patient care through effective communication.
Responsibilities- Utilize professional nursing skills and judgment to implement nursing care and treat identified problems.
- Communicate patient assessments to appropriate individuals to ensure coordinated care.
- Demonstrate knowledge of diagnostic measures such as labs, radiology, and EKG; proficient in IV therapy.
- Ensure timely and accurate transcription and implementation of physicians' orders during patient admissions.
- Document patient clinical records with accuracy and timeliness; verify compliance with surgical procedures.
- Provide appropriate education and instructions to patients and their families.
- Maintain supply inventory according to policy and utilize resources to contain costs without compromising care.
- Assist with housekeeping duties as necessary to provide a clean environment for patients.
- When assigned to PACU, assess patients and provide appropriate critical care, including airway maintenance and pain control management.
- Familiarize with patient transfer processes to medical centers.
- Function as a float nurse, adapting to the needs of various departments and assisting staff as necessary.
- Work effectively in pain management and eye laser procedure rooms, and be aware of anesthesia supplies.
- Participate in committee meetings and contribute to discussions about improvements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
