Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality perioperative and intraoperative nursing care in the Cardiovascular Operating Room
- Assess, monitor and document patient status using Cerner to ensure safe surgical outcomes
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia, and the perioperative team to coordinate care
- Maintain sterile technique and strict infection control standards in all procedures
- Respond to emergent situations following ACLS and BLS protocols with confidence
- Support patient transitions and handoffs, ensuring clear communication and continuity of care
- Participate in call rotations and float assignments with flexibility and professionalism
- Contribute to unit improvement initiatives and uphold Trauma Level 2 standards

Requirements
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (able to practice in California)
- Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience (CVOR or strong perioperative background preferred)
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
- COVID-19 vaccination required
- Familiarity with Cerner charting system
- Comfort with varied shift start times, call duties, and floating to support unit needs
- Strong teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills in high-acuity settings
Education
- Associate degree or diploma in Nursing (BSN not required)
- Completion of required orientation (12 orientation hours provided)
Knowledge & Skills
- Expertise in acute care and cardiovascular operating room procedures
- Proficiency with Cerner electronic health records and perioperative documentation
- Skilled in sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and intraoperative monitoring
- Ability to apply ACLS/BLS protocols in emergency situations
- Strong clinical assessment, prioritization, and multitasking abilities
- Effective collaboration with multidisciplinary surgical teams
