American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position that requires strong cardiac skills and a NC or compact RN license.
Responsibilities- Work in a 44-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
- Patient population includes cardiac-focused cases such as chest pain, MI, N-STEMI, cardiac arrhythmias, medical overflow, and potential stroke patients
- RN to patient ratio is typically 1:4-5
- 12-hour night shifts beginning at 7pm with every other weekend required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Tele monitors and general med-surg equipment are used, with Epic as the EMR
- Floating required within Region 2 facilities according to scope of practice, with paid time for mid-shift travel between sites
- Responsibilities include caring for cardiac and potential stroke patients with medical and telemetry needs
- Support is provided by CNAs, charge nurses, ancillary staff for phlebotomy and IV/VAT, and a centralized telemetry tech team
- Department culture is patient-centered, supportive, and collegial
- Scrub color is navy
- Free parking is provided behind the hospital
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the home unit for eligibility
- Travelers expected to cover 75% of holidays as required
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Two days of departmental orientation provided
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum of 2 years recent Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience
- Proficiency in reading telemetry and managing cardiac patients, including experience with non-titrating drips such as Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Heparin
- General med-surg RN skills including IV starts, drain/tube management, wound care, NGT placement, and central line management
- Must be able to use Epic for charting
