We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Cardiothoracic Surgeon to fill a 3 to 6-month temporary assignment, with strong potential for permanent placement into 2026. This role is critical in maintaining high-quality patient care during a leadership transition due to a Leave of Absence and departure. The surgeon will be embedded in a Level One Trauma Center with a robust clinical environment, including inpatient, operating room, ICU, ER, and floor coverage. The position offers a stable, structured schedule with a balanced call rotation and a well-supported team. The ideal candidate will be board-certified, actively licensed in Connecticut, and proficient in EPIC EMR, with demonstrated expertise in complex cardiac and thoracic procedures. Responsibilities:
- Perform and manage all aspects of cardiothoracic surgical care, including preoperative evaluation, intraoperative execution, and postoperative follow-up.
- Provide inpatient and ICU management for cardiac and thoracic surgical patients.
- Conduct surgical procedures including but not limited to CABG, off-pump CABG, arterial revascularization, valve repair/replacement, and thoracic aortic aneurysm repair.
- Manage emergency surgical interventions in the ER and on hospital floors as needed.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EPIC EMR.
- Participate in scheduled call rotations (approximately 7 8 nights and weekends per month) with a 3-provider call pool.
- Collaborate with a full complement of ancillary staff to ensure seamless patient care delivery.
- Uphold clinical excellence, patient safety, and adherence to institutional protocols and standards.
Requirements Requirements:
- Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery REQUIRED
- Active CT Medical License REQUIRED
- Valid BLS and ACLS certifications REQUIRED
- Local provider (mileage reimbursement only) REQUIRED please provide current address at time of submission
- Must adhere to the specified rate structure REQUIRED
- Conversion rate cap of $25,000 REQUIRED
- Copy of NPDB self-query report REQUIRED
- Proven experience in performing descending aortic aneurysm repair, tube thoracostomy, pericardial window, heart valve repair/replacement, CoreValve System implantation, and redo coronary revascularization
- Experience in a Level One Trauma Center with high-volume ER and surgical caseload
- Proficiency with EPIC EMR system
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented hospital-based setting
