Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a Flex Pool day-shift contract assignment. This role requires strong clinical skills and flexibility, as the RN will float between multiple medical and surgical units to support patient care needs across the hospital.
Contract & Schedule Details- Assignment Length: 13-week contract
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
- Hours: Scheduled 36 hours per week following the first week of orientation
- No guarantee of hours or shift preference
- Holiday coverage required
- Active Hawaii Registered Nurse license required by start of assignment
- Travelers without an active HI license must apply upon acceptance
- Documented proof of required immunizations is mandatory
- Medical and religious exemption requests will not be accepted in lieu of proof of immunity
- Must arrive prior to assignment start to complete employee health clearance, if applicable
- Float between assigned medical and surgical units as needed
- Provide safe, high-quality nursing care to adult patients
- Perform patient assessments, care planning, and documentation
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and safety standards

- Cardiovascular Unit (on rare occasions)
- Unit Bed Sizes:
- Medical Unit: 77 beds
- Laulima Unit (Surgical Acute): 18 beds
- Cardiovascular Unit: 15 beds
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:
- Medical Unit: 1:6 (days/evenings), 1:8 (nights)
- Laulima Unit: 1:6
- Cardiovascular Unit: 1:4
- Ratios may vary due to staffing needs
- EMR systems: Meditech and EPIC
- Equipment used includes:
- Pyxis
- Wound vacs
- Chest tubes
- Minimum of 2 years of recent nursing experience
- Preferred experience range: 2–10 years
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- Preferred (not required): PALS, TNCC, ENPC, Procedural Sedation
- Professional nursing attire (clean scrubs)
- Unit-specific orientation provided for each department supported
