Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a night shift position in a Level III Trauma Center requiring strong MICU experience and telemetry competency.

Responsibilities

• Position is in a 20-bed Medical/Surgical ICU at a Level III Trauma Center
• Night shift schedule from 19:00 to 07:30 with every other weekend required
• Must float to Medical/Surgical units as needed, with patient assignments up to 4 or 5 when floating
• RN to patient ratio is 1:2 or 1:1 with high acuity; 1:4 or 1:5 when floated
• Wide range of adult patient populations including substance abuse/overdose, psychiatric conditions, DKA, sepsis, GI bleed, respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, renal failure, and cardiogenic shock
• Uses EPIC charting system
• Attendings and residents are present in the ICU 24 hours per day
• Must be able to float to Med Surg areas as needed
• Local candidates must live at least 60 miles from Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston for full travel rate, otherwise a 5% lower local rate applies
• Parking is available at a daily cost; public transportation options are available
• First-time travelers will be considered

Requirements

• Active Massachusetts RN license required; no pending or conditional licenses accepted
• Minimum of 3 years recent general ICU nursing experience required
• At least 2 years of continuous MICU experience in one location required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA accepted, Red Cross accepted)
• Must be competent in reading telemetry strips
• Flu vaccination required; no religious or medical exemptions allowed
