Chief, Department of Orthopedic Surgery in Baltimore, MD Position OverviewSystem is seeking a System Chief of Orthopedic Surgery to provide strategic leadership for the Department of Orthopedics across 2 hospitals, along with the Medical Group's orthopedic practices. This executive role will advance clinical, academic, and research excellence while fostering collaboration and accountability throughout the health system. Assignment DetailsFull-time, employed leadership position Oversee all components of Orthopedic Surgery across three hospitals and affiliated practices Lead clinical, academic, and research activities, advancing subspecialty programs including trauma, arthroplasty, sports medicine, hand & upper extremity, limb lengthening, limb deformity/correction, and pediatric orthopedics Support residency and fellowship training programs Ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to best practices in patient care and operational efficiency Serve as a visible medical leader advocating for departmental and organizational values Promote quality improvement, safety, and evidence-based care QualificationsBoard Certified in Orthopedic Surgery 7-10 years of administrative and clinical leadership experience Prior chair experience preferred; emerging leaders with appropriate experience considered Academic and research distinction with national/international recognition Experience in an academic medical center or complex teaching environment Strong leadership skills fostering diversity, quality, teamwork, and professional growth Compensation & BenefitsCompetitive base salary: $750K-$1.1M, plus additional incentive bonus Comprehensive benefits package including: - Flexible Spending Account (FSA) - 403(b) Retirement plan - 457(b) Deferred Compensation plan - Annual paid time off - Medical liability insurance with tail coverage - CME allowances - Life insurance - Reimbursement of all medical staff dues and credentialing fees Community InformationSystem hospitals are located within easy driving distance of Baltimore/Washington cultural attractions.
