Surgical Technologist II, PRN; shifts 6:45am–3:15pm; Operating Room and clinical settings; PRN (as-needed) position; location: hospital OR; reports to surgical services; contract: PRN. - High School diploma or GED; graduate of surgical technologist program preferred - Surgical Tech certification (NCCT, NBSTSA, or LCCC-ST) and BLS required - Minimum 6 months surgical technologist experience (3–5 years preferred in Cardiology, Neurology, or Orthopedics) - Competence in sterile/aseptic technique, anatomy, med terminology, and patient care - Experience training/precepting in Cardio-Thoracic surgery

Overview:

PRN Position

6:45am - 3:15pm

 

Assist the surgeon(s) by providing basic instrumentation and sterile techniques for procedures performed in the Operating Room and provide patient care in the clinical setting. The Surgical Tech II is also responsible for the care, handling and maintenance of basic surgical equipment and instrumentation.

Qualifications:

Required Education:
High School Diploma or GED.  Specific course work: Graduate of surgical technologist program

Preferred Education:
Associate's degree

Required Licensure/Certifications:
-Surgical Tech Certification from NCCT, NBSTSA, or LCCC-ST
-BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Preferred Licensure/Certifications:
N/A

Required Experience:
Minimum of 6 months surgical technologist experience

Preferred Experience:
3-5 years of working experience as a surgical technologist and assistant in a specialty line (Cardiology, Neurology, or Orthopedics)

Necessary Skills:
1. Strong working knowledge of patient care and basic human needs throughout the life span
2. Strong working knowledge of anatomic structure and human body system
3. Strong working knowledge of acute and chronic disease processes
4. In depth knowledge of medical terminology
5. Must have excellent verbal and written English communication skills, including but not limited to presentation skills and report writing
6. Must have expert knowledge, use and demonstration of standard precautions; Expert knowledge, use and experience with aseptic and sterile technique
7. Must have experience training and precepting staff in Cardio-Thoracic surgery
8. Must have organization and time management skills including but not limited to organizing, planning and prioritizing work.
