Job Description

The Level 4 Operating Room Nurse provides 1:1 patient care to individuals before, during, and after surgery across various disciplines including General Surgery, Orthopedics, Vascular, ENT, Ophthalmology, Urology, Endoscopy, and GYN. The nurse will care for patients from neonate to geriatric populations and is responsible for demonstrating knowledge and safe management of anesthetic drugs, arterial lines, catheters, and surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct pre-op and post-op patient care, addressing psychosocial and physical aspects related to surgery.
• Demonstrate proper prioritization in performing circulating duties, especially in emergency situations.
• Utilize sterile techniques to open, handle, and document surgical items and specimens properly.
• Order, handle, and administer blood products safely.
• Maintain communication with the surgical team, ensuring adherence to surgical standards and universal precautions.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification.
• A minimum of 2 years of Operating Room experience is preferred.
