Travel: nearest airport AVL; local lodging options. - Board certified/eligible in IM and GI - NC medical license (or ability to obtain temporary privileges) - BLS required - Experience with diagnostic/therapeutic ERCP, EUS, upper/lower endoscopy with biopsy and polypectomy - Able to respond to call within 30 minutes

We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Internal Medicine - Gastroenterology physician for an exciting locum tenens opportunity in North Carolina. This position offers a chance to work in a dynamic and collaborative healthcare setting while providing care to a variety of patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Key Highlights: Location: North Carolina, near Barnardsville, NC Start Date: ASAP End Date: Ongoing (Long-term coverage) Provider Type: Physician Specialty: Internal Medicine - Gastroenterology Practice Setting: Both inpatient and outpatient Hospital Type: 86-bed hospital Call Coverage: Full call coverage required with beeper support (100% call ratio) Patients Per Shift: 10+ patients per day Rounding: Required for both inpatient and outpatient settings Scope of Work: Endoscopy Procedures: Upper GI endoscopy with biopsy, foreign body removal, cautery vs. laser (fulguration of bleeder) ERCP (diagnostic and therapeutic) with PEG (percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy) Esophageal dilatation and manometry interpretation Small bowel biopsy Lower GI endoscopy, including sigmoidoscopy, flexible colonoscopy with biopsy and excision of polyps Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and liver biopsy Admissions: Required for patients, with an expected 3+ admissions per day Supervision: No supervision of advanced practice providers or teaching responsibilities required Board Certification: Required in Internal Medicine with board certification in Gastroenterology preferred. Eligible candidates will also be considered. Licensure: Must be licensed in North Carolina Credentialing and Licensing: Credentialing timeframe is approximately 60-90 days. Temporary privileges are available if qualifications are met. BLS required; ACLS, ATLS, and PALS are not mandatory for this position. Work Schedule and Call Details: Call Ratio: 100% coverage, with an average of 3+ phone consults and 3+ admissions during each 24-hour call shift.
