Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position in Michigan requiring a current or pending state RN license and flexible floating to similar units.
Responsibilities
- Work on a 37-bed Med/Surg/Oncology unit in a hospital environment
- Patient types include general medical, post-surgical (GI, urological, gynecological), ortho/neurovascular, and cardio/pulmonary cases
- Staffing ratio is typically 1:5-6 for night shifts, may flex to 1:8 with LPN support
- Required to float to other Med/Surg units as needed, generally once per week
- Shifts are 12 hours, day shift (7:00 to 19:30), with both 36 and 48 hour schedules available
- Every other weekend work required
- Must be available for the first 8 days of the assignment
- Care for diverse patient conditions including GI, urology, hysterectomies, mastectomies, and general medical cases
- RN will be paired with LPN support if patient assignments exceed standard ratios
- Open to RNs willing to float between Med/Surg units based on patient and staffing needs
- Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed or approved
- Local pay rate applies for candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility
Requirements
- Active Michigan RN license or proof of license application with estimated approval date
- Current American Heart Association BLS certification or willingness to obtain prior to start
- Minimum of 1 year Med/Surg RN experience required, 2 years preferred
- Experience working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team including LPNs and techs
