American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position at a Level I Trauma Center, requiring critical care background and a MO or compact RN license.
Responsibilities- Work in a PACU within a Level I trauma, magnet, and teaching hospital
- Adult, occasional adolescent, and geriatric surgical patient population
- Surgical cases include neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant
- 38-bed PACU with an average daily census of 70-90
- Night shift, 4x10 hour schedule from 22:00 to 08:30, with rotating start times as needed
- No weekend, on-call, or holiday shifts required
- Floating within scope may be required to meet facility needs
- EPIC charting system is used
- Primary responsibility is recovery of post-surgical patients, excluding open heart surgeries and liver transplants
- Night shift staff are expected to learn pre-op patient workup procedures
- Unit is supported by its own patient care technician and transport team
- Navy blue scrubs are required
- Permanent employees must wait one year before returning as a traveler
- Travelers may complete up to 18 months on assignment, with a required 3-month break after 18 months
- Active MO or compact RN license required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2-3 years of Level 1 ICU experience required
- Critical care, inpatient, and Phase I PACU experience required
- Proficiency in dysrhythmia recognition, blood product administration, phlebotomy, starting IVs, IV vasopressors, ICP monitoring, and care of ventilated patients
- EPIC EMR experience required for certain units
- Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility
- No more than 7 days of requested time off per 13-week contract; no time off allowed during orientation
- First-time travelers are accepted
