American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN for a Level II unit, requiring at least 2 years of recent specialty experience and active MO or compact RN licensure.
Responsibilities- Work in a 5-bed Level II NICU caring for neonates 29 weeks and above
- Facility admits infants 34 weeks and above, with lower gestational age infants stabilized and transferred out
- NICU patient ratios are 1:2-3
- Patient care includes neonates 29-34 weeks and above, requiring support with blood glucose monitoring, various feedings, isolation precautions, central/implanted line care, UAC/UVC line management, and neuro assessment for Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome
- Night shift position with three 12-hour shifts per week (19:00–07:00)
- Mandatory minimum of 4-5 weekend shifts (Sat/Sun) and at least 2 Fridays per 6-week schedule
- Two mandatory on-call shifts required every 6-week schedule
- Floating to well newborn nursery and postpartum may be required
- Uses standard NICU equipment including IV pumps, syringe pumps, phototherapy equipment, incubators/Omnibed/radiant warmers, and telehealth for neonatologist support
- Responsibilities include patient and family education, assisting with well newborn assessments, and supporting procedures when NICU census is low
- Assist with stabilization and transfer of higher acuity or lower gestational age infants, including procedures such as needle aspiration, UVC/UAC placement, intubation, surfactant administration, and passive cooling
- Holiday shifts and charge RN assignments may be required as determined by the unit
- Maximum of 7 days of requested time off allowed
- No travel partners accepted for this assignment
- Active MO or compact RN license required and must be in hand prior to consideration
- Minimum of 2 years of recent NICU experience with at least 1 year within the last 12 months and no employment gaps greater than 90 days in the past year
- Certifications required: BLS, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP); STABLE preferred
- Two professional references required (one supervisor or higher and one charge RN), both from the past year
- Not open to first-time travelers or local candidates (must live at least 75 miles from facility)
