Med/Surg RN Job Details

• Location: Albany, Georgia (31701) – Georgia nursing jobs
• Healthcare Setting: Acute Care, Medical Surgical Unit
• Start Date: December 15, 2025
• End Date: April 13, 2026
• Assignment Duration: 17 weeks
• Shifts: 12-hour nights (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM), every other weekend, rotating with permanent staff
• Hours per Week: 36 guaranteed
• Openings: 3 Med/Surg RN positions
• Employment Type: Travel nursing assignment
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1680 - $1800

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active and unencumbered RN license (Registered Nurse)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg nursing experience in a high-acuity, large hospital setting
• Experience in fast-paced, high-turnover medical surgical units
• Familiarity with MEDITECH charting system preferred
• Strong commitment to patient safety, satisfaction, and quality healthcare
• Ability to manage 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratios
• Adherence to strict attendance and professional appearance policies (no artificial or shellac nails; only polished nails allowed)

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Provide primary care nursing to a diverse adult patient population, including diabetic, CHF, COPD, GI bleed, renal failure, dialysis, post-surgical, wound care, DVTs, ETOH, and psychiatric patients
• Administer medications such as Lasix, Bumex, and Heparin as ordered
• Collaborate with CNAs and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Utilize CPAP and BiPAP equipment as needed (BiPAP at night only)
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using the MEDITECH electronic health record system
• Comply with hospital policies regarding patient safety, infection control, and attendance
• Rotate shifts with permanent staff and work every other weekend as scheduled
• Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment in the medical surgical unit
