American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU position requiring a CT or compact RN license, with PALS and BLS certifications.
Responsibilities- Work in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) of a large, Level I Trauma Center
- Patient ratios average 1:2 in the PICU
- Care for critically ill pediatric patients, including cardiac cases
- Day (7:00–19:00) and night (19:00–7:00) shifts available, 3x12-hour shifts per week
- Weekend work required every other weekend
- No on-call shifts required
- Must float to other pediatric units within the children's hospital as needed, including Pediatric ED, NNICU, inpatient, and psych units, performing duties within scope of practice
- Epic is used for charting
- Responsible for providing comprehensive care to critically ill pediatric patients, including those requiring advanced cardiac support
- Expected to connect with the Charge RN for orientation when floating to new units
- Pre-start modules must be completed prior to starting, with annual training as required
- Return staff candidates must have been away for at least 2 years to be considered
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Requests for time off greater than 7 days require approval
- Candidates must live at least 75 miles away from the facility to be considered for this travel role
- Professional attire is required; specific scrub guidelines will be communicated upon onboarding
- Active CT or compact RN license required (pending license accepted if obtained prior to start)
- Minimum 3 years of PICU nursing experience required; 1.5 years accepted with Level I or travel experience
- Current PALS and BLS certifications required
- Experience in cardiac critical care required
- CRRT and ECMO experience and certification preferred
- Trauma Center experience at a large facility required
- Must provide at least 1 professional reference
- Flu vaccine required without exceptions; COVID-19 vaccine and booster required unless granted religious or medical exemption
- No previous permanent employment within the last 2 years at the facility
