JOB FUNCTION:As a Campus Refrigeration Technician you will monitor, maintain, and repair different types of heating and cooling systems throughout the Fareway Meat & Grocery Boone Campus. Your attention to detail and background in refrigeration technology will help us maintain efficient operation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:- Start up, test and observe systems to ensure proper function for its operating life
- Service & maintain existing systems
- Follow refrigeration best practices, keeping up on industry standards
- Troubleshoot and repair heating and cooling systems of all types and sizes
- Use Computerized Maintenance Management System
- Other duties as assigned
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to understand technical instructions, written and verbal
- Ability to use various tools effectively and safely
- Excellent communication skills
- Proven ability to work independently
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Electrical and mechanical skills are necessary
- Ability to multitask and handle multiple priorities
- Basic math skills are required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:- Previous experience in industrial or storage type refrigeration settings
- Refrigeration schooling or certifications
- Experience in performing advanced HVAC diagnosis, maintenance, and repair
- Basic plumbing knowledge
- Basic electrical knowledge
- Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems. CARO, CIRO, Operator I, Operator II, Operator III / Technician I, CRST certifications are a plus
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:- Must be able to climb stairs, climb ladders, bend, kneel, twist, reach, and pull frequently.
- Must be able to lift items more than 50 lbs. occasionally, 25 lbs. frequently, and 10 - 20 lbs. Continuously
WORK ENVIRONMENT: - Exposure to varying temperatures depending on building:
- Some jobs occur in room temperature rooms, 60F - 85F
- Some jobs occur in refrigerated rooms, 28F - 45F
- Some jobs occur in freezer rooms, -20F - 0F
- Some jobs occur in varying ambient outdoor conditions
- Campus warehouses have a noisy and busy environment; employees must always remain alert.
