American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardio Thoracic Telemetry position requiring an active IL RN license and strong EKG interpretation skills.
Responsibilities- Work in an acute care Cardio Thoracic Telemetry unit with 70 beds
- Patients include those with MI, CHF, A fib, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placements, lung surgery, and gen med overflow
- Unit uses Phillips tele monitors and the Epic EMR system
- Nurse to patient ratios are 1:4-5 during days and 1:5-6 at night
- Twelve-hour night shifts, 7:00pm–7:30am
- Weekend shifts required every other weekend
- Float assignment may include general medical units
- No on-call or standby requirement
- RNs required to titrate drips, perform medication titration, and troubleshoot CPAP/BiPAP in specified situations
- Unit supported by 24/7 charge nurse and house supervisor, with charge nurses rarely taking patient assignments
- Patient care tech support provided, with day ratios of 1:8-9 and night ratios of 1:10-12
- Orientation provided, typically one shift or less depending on prior OSF experience
- Holiday participation required, with rotating coverage for major holidays
- Dress code allows any color scrubs except children's/cartoon prints
- No COVID-19 vaccination required
- No radius rule applies; different rates may apply for local candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles
- Active IL RN license in hand at the time of consideration
- Minimum of 2 years recent RN experience
- Current BLS certification from AHA required
- Strong EKG interpretation skills required
- Experience titrating drips such as Cardizem and heparin
- Ability to interpret telemetry strips required
- Experience with Epic EMR preferred
