Candidates must have an MD or DO, relevant clinical experience, board certification, and possess strong communication and analytical skills.

Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week with rotating weekend coverage
Assignment Length: 6 months with potential for permanent hire
Reports To: Lead Medical Director
We are seeking experienced Medical Directors to join a large national healthcare organization in a fully remote capacity. The role includes comprehensive review of medical records, decisioning on requested services, and consistent communication with external providers to ensure timely determinations. Ideal candidates are highly professional, resourceful, and comfortable working in a structured, team-oriented environment.
ResponsibilitiesConduct compliant and timely medical necessity reviews for inpatient services
Ensure all determinations align with national guidelines, CMS requirements, internal policies, and clinical standards
Communicate decisions effectively both verbally and in writing
Maintain productivity, accuracy, and compliance metrics
Collaborate with internal teams and external providers
Adapt to evolving workflows, tools, and utilization management processes
Participate in educational activities as needed
MD or DO degree
5+ years of direct clinical patient care post residency/fellowship (preferably inpatient or Medicare-type population experience)
Board Certification (ABMS-approved specialty)
Active, unrestricted medical license in at least one U.S. state (willing to obtain more if required)
No sanctions; must meet credentialing requirements
Excellent written and verbal communication
Strong analytical and interpretation skills
Ability to work effectively in a team-driven environment
Knowledge of Medicare Advantage, Managed Medicaid, Commercial plans, or managed care
Experience with Utilization Management
Familiarity with guidelines such as MCG or InterQual
Background in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, Hospitalist, Emergency Medicine, or other hospital-based specialties
Comfort working with technology and adapting to change
Enthusiastic about innovation and team culture
